Thanks to everyone who came to my “happy trails” party last night. I had a fantastic time, graciously hosted by our wonderful neighbor Sandra.
The party was not too big and everybody seemed to be talking to each other. I made my rounds.
Lots of friends are interested in my trip, either just hearing about it or actually doing it themselves someday.
People ask about:
- how often and how to resupply.
Short answer: the trail goes by places where you can buy food or it goes by roads where you can hitch a ride into town. In some places it’s most convenient to mail a package to yourself either to a post office or a hiker-friendly business. - dangerous animals.
Yes I did see bears and mountain lions. The only actual close encounter I experienced last time that negatively affected me were mice chewing holes in my dirty, sweaty socks. I have the socks to prove it. - who is joining me.
I will be doing this trip on my own, however, there will be many other thru-hikers, so I will not be alone.
Some people looked at the trail map and took PCT postcards home with them (postcard-sized maps of the entire trail). Looking at the map I remember the scenes, scenery and people from all the different sections of the trail. I’m ready to hit the trail again.

You will not be hiking alone! I will be with you in Spirit, as you will be with me in Bergen Norway.
